I am jealous of my newest daughter's ears. They are just lovely. I am jealous in a good way... happy for her that she doesn't have my ears! Her ears are tiny and smack on the side of her head. Like my sister said, "they look like they are just glued down!" She will probably never truly appreciate her beautiful ears, because she will never have my ears. But I will do my best to remind her how very lucky she is.

(They ARE a bit pointy, like a little elf, but that comes from the Gulde side. Curt has some cousins with pointy ears. So I take no responsibility for that... and I still think they are beautiful!)

How to get more $$ for your tooth...

So here's the story. Jonathan lost his first tooth the day after Colleen was born. He was very excited because in Kindergarten you get to put your name on this giant tooth when you loose one. Anyway, he wrapped the tooth up in a little envelope he made and put it under his pillow before he went to bed.

As usual, Curt and I kept hearing various clunking and chattering noises coming from the back of the house. Nothing new there. We heard the bathroom door slam shut and water running in the sink. Again, nothing new. Then, bathroom door opens and Jonathan comes out into the living room, with huge tears in his eyes, holding back a sob. He's holding his bottle of tooth paste and a barrette. Here's what happened:

He told us, between sobbing and sniffling, that Emelie informed him that if you have a very clean tooth, the tooth fairy will give you a extra money for it. (Curt and I did not know of this fact) So, Emelie told Jonathan the he should go and brush his tooth really well before he went to sleep. He did just that, always willing and eager to follow the advice of his big sister. He got his tube of toothpaste (the kind that stands upright on the counter) and squeezed it while he held the tooth over the opening to catch some paste on it. Then, he let go of the tooth paste tube, and it sucked his tooth into the tube! He tried to fish it out with Emelie's barrette, but that only crammed it further down.

So, Curt had to perform surgery on the tooth paste tube to get the tooth out, which was, after all, now very clean.

The tooth fairy left Jonathan a $1.25.

Introducing Colleen Bernadette Gulde!

She was born on Tuesday, March 18th (missed St. Patrick's day by 18 hours!!) at 6:13 PM. She weighs 7 lbs 1 oz and is 20.5 inches long.

She's precious and adorable and we are all SO glad she's finally here. (especially me!)

It's nice being completely inspired by someone I've never even met!

So, at St. Mary's in College Station, there's a girl (lady?) named Sarah that works there and contributes to their blog. I think she is so very wise and I absolutely love everything she writes. She takes little parts of her daily life and then connects them to her faith in a very real, hopeful and inspiring way. I hope you'll take some time to read them.

Aren't they sweet.

Poor Katherine.

She has no idea what she's in for with this new baby (due in less than 2 weeks - yikes!!) And I still wonder what God is trying to teach me by giving me three daughters. I bet he chuckles at the thought. I understand having a son - what girl doesn't want another boy to adore her? Another cute guy to pick on? But I just hope that God has some plans to help me help these three little ladies turn out alright! Seems like a big task for some reason!

Can you see the little white dots - that's really snow! In College Station. Very exciting! Emelie and Jonathan had a blast standing in it and went to school completely soaked, but thrilled none the less. The best thing is that the snow ended right as school began, so they weren't tortured all day watching snow flakes fall outside their classroom window!

So, I've been nesting in very impractical ways... rearranging furniture (not in the baby's room, since she doesn't even have one yet), cleaning out the refrigerator and sewing. I've been sewing bags.They ARE reversible and some even have pockets!! But they're very simple bags that don't even need a pattern. For some reason patterns scare me... something I hope to get over some day! So, I made one for me, a baby bag, one for Emelie and one for Jonathan. I made one for Katherine, but accidentally sewed the wrong side to the right side (do patterns keep this from happening??). So, I gave Jonathan his bag after school one day last week and he said:

"Wow Mom, this looks really good. I really like it! It looks really nice. Like YOU didn't even make it!"

Thanks son. I'm sure that's some sort of compliment.
